In Chile the Atacama desert was covered by a blossom of beautiful flowers that was caused by the phenomenon of El Nino. It is said that the warm pacific coast line waters have caused the sandy soil of the Atacama desert to blossom. This event came to be known as "desierto florido" and it only happens every 5 years, according to Pedro Leon Lobos, a botanist from Chile. Moreover, the Atacama Desert is one of the world’s driest locations, but because of warmer waters alter the flow of air across the region, the desert thrived with amazing and beautiful flowers. Lastly, because of this amazing phenomenon there was a great biodiversity in the Atacama desert.
