This article discusses what animals do during a wildfire. This has become a rather hot topic due to all the wildfires occurring in California. According to Sarah Zielinski, many wildlife species have adapted themselves to live under the circumstances of a wildfire. In fact many species take the rapid fires and use them as a benefit. For instance, predators such as bears hunt during the fires, since many of their prey are trapped by the fires. Moreover, most animals run away from the fire and take refuge in logs, under rocks, and in lakes or streams. Although many animals do escape a lot of animals and even bacteria, such as fungi, fail to do so and die. Many forests that are destroyed because of wildfires are able to recover and replenish themselves. Lastly, wildfires have a great impact on the environment. These fires create a loss in biodiversity. Many species of both animals and plants are lost or listed under the endangered species.
